LYCON WAX · WOODLEY
Where would you like to be smooth?
Eighteen areas, from £15. Lycon is a resin wax that adheres to the hair rather than the skin, applied at a low temperature — which is why it suits sensitive skin and why it is more comfortable than it sounds.
Six areas cover most bookings
Twelve more areas from £15 — upper lip, chin, arms, chest, back, tummy line and the rest.

It adheres to the hair, not the skin
That one difference is the whole argument. A wax that bonds to the skin as well as the hair takes a layer of you with it; Lycon does not, which is why it suits sensitive skin and why the clinic uses nothing else.
Smooth for three to six weeks.
Waxing takes the hair from the root rather than cutting it off at the surface, which is why the interval is measured in weeks rather than days. Hair needs to be about three millimetres — an eighth of an inch — before the wax has anything to grip.

What to expect at your first wax
Four of the eighteen areas are intimate, and nobody's first one is relaxed. These are the things that actually make it bearable.
You undress alone
We leave the room, and you are covered with a towel for everything that is not being worked on.
Tell us to stop and we stop
At any point, for any reason, without explaining why. Nobody has ever been made to feel awkward about it.
One therapist, start to finish
The same person you spoke to at the door. Nobody else comes into the room.
Intimate waxing is eighteen and over
Brazilian and Hollywood waxing is available to clients aged eighteen and over. Every therapist here is a woman, and the clinic is open to everyone.
BEFORE YOU COME
Four things that make it easier
Most of a comfortable wax is decided before you arrive, and none of it is difficult.
Let it grow to three millimetres
About an eighth of an inch. Shorter than that and the wax has nothing to grip.
Exfoliate a couple of days before
Not on the day. Gentle exfoliation a few days afterwards helps prevent ingrown hairs too.
Skip moisturiser on the area
On the morning of the appointment. Clean, dry skin is what the wax wants.
Loose clothes for afterwards
Especially for intimate waxing. Avoid sun, hot baths and heavy exercise for 24 hours.
